The 1988 Epiphone Spotlight Nouveau. And this isn't your everyday Epiphone. With neck-through mahogany construction, a maple top, 24 frets, Ebony fingerboard, Chevron inlays and EMG Select pickups, the Spotlight was a pretty sophisticated machine for 1988. But the REAL story is what happened behind the scenes... The Spotlight came out of Gibson's short-lived Nouveau project, involving Japanese-made components and assembly/finishing in Nashville. And its striking design was clearly aimed at the emerging Paul Reed Smith market. Then came the lawsuit... The result? A guitar with a remarkably short production life and a reputation today as one of the more unusual and collectible Epiphone/Gibson instruments of the era.
This guitar is in good condition, it has a neck through body construction, it is set up really well and is very easy and comfortable to play. There is a little bit of fret wear on the first 3 frets, nothing too serious. There are some pick scratches on the face of the guitar and some pretty good belt buckle scratches on the back, and a couple of dings where the paint is missing on the back edge of the guitar. Overall it is a great players guitar with some very cool history and really rare!!!
This guitar weighs in at 9 lbs, and comes with a hardshell case.
